View manny’s wild animal nursery decor

After a lot of thinking and deliberation I had narrowed Manny’s nursery theme down to two options, either a “post” theme with a red postbox, Paddington bear etc. or a wild animal nursery decor theme. The decision was made for us be our neighbours that moved that gave us a whole whack of their little ones’ soft toys: two lions and a giraffe. So I decided to do go “wild”.

From the start I wanted neutral colours for the room, and theme it in such a way that we would not have to re-paint /decorate soon afterwards again. I saw a striped wall on a blog that I follow and decided that this would be the technique to use on the main wall in the room. I added a white bookshelf with hooks that I purchased a few years ago from Biggie Best to the wall.

I hung daddy’s old soccer boots on the wall on a hook that we bought from Ikea when we went to Europe last year. The Giraffe growth chart vinyl was custom made by Twiggy to match the scatters from Mr Price Home. The monkey on the bed was my monkey named “Kosie” that I got from my grandfather when I was born.

As the nursery is quite small we decided to create a changing station inside the cupboard, all Daddy’s handy work! The hippo mobile is from China Mall.

Just because daddy is a doctor, granny got manny his own doctors kit so that he can grow up to potentially follow in daddy’s footsteps.

I knitted the following skittels, with some held from grandma from the second book in the new You/Huisgenoot knitting magazines. We tested them out on my niece and she absolutely loooved it. We replaced the cardboard suggested in the book for the base with old computer cd’s.

This wild animal quilt was also thanks to Grandma’s hard work!
