At the end of 2015 year I asked some lovilees to collaborate with me on a bridal styled shoot entitled ‘florals & frills’. I wanted to showcase something totally OTT, filled with florals in different patterns and colours. I am so proud of the end results and grateful on the collaboration between all the lovilees. A big thank you to Carike Ridout Photography for all the lovilee images that she took.
The shoot took place in the glass house at Buitengeluk Function Venue in Fourways, Johannesburg. The first time I saw this lovilee green house garden gem I knew it was the perfect fit for a styled shoot. Terri from Ribbon Weddings created the floral masterpieces for us that included hanging birdcages, bouquets and a fresh hydrangea table runner. It was breathtaking.
Nicci agreed to model for us in her wedding dress that she got married in earlier this year (she also modeled for us in our greenery styled shoot). Even more special is that it was made by her mom, the dress is truly a work of art. My cousin, Ilana from Cosmetiek nailed the look with the make-up she did on the day. We added some whimsical flowers to Nicci’s hair wish is a great idea for the reception of a wedding.
I re-purposed an old lace curtain that we used as a backdrop, the results were amazing. Tesi Bridal loaned us one of her floral bridal gowns and it tied into the look and feel perfectly.
Floral wedding stationary and wedding favor ideas
Your wedding stationary and wedding invitation is there to set the tone of what your guests can look forward to on your wedding day. All of the stationary for our bridal styled shoot was done by Creative Genie. She made use of a double sided scrapbook paper for the envelopes and added a lovilee belly band for the guest names. There were plenty of small details that really made these stationary elements pop.
When it comes to wedding favor ideas, Creative Genie decided to share some favor packets from a tutorial here. They can be used to spoil the guests with some flower seeds to plant after the wedding or you can simply add some pretty sweets. These pretty packets are available for free download here and is perfect for any bridal tablescape.
What you will need
- Printed image on a paper of your choice (we used a kraft paper)
- Scissors or craft knife
- Glue
- Seeds or sweets to fill
How to?
- Print out the image on your colour printer at home or at a printing shop
- Cut the favour packet out on the solid lines
- Fold the packet on the dotted lines
- Stick the packet together with glue
- Fill it with sweets or seeds
- Give it to someone special!
Wedding cake table and wedding cake
Although we totally went over the top with the table setting and flowers thereof we decided to simplify the cake table. Carla from Moi Decor Hire supplied us with the decor elements that we used in the shoot. She runs her business from her home in Victory Park, Johannesburg and all of her items can be viewed on her website. We made use of one of her mirrors to which she added some hand-lettering with a white eye pencil. Her brass candlesticks and floral pots was a great pair.
For the cake I opted to add a layer adorned with fresh flowers that also added to the OTT of it all!
You can off-course also use a table like this for a wedding guest book table.
Bridal portraits
It is so important to be yourself when it comes to your bridal portraits. Even though there is a space for ‘posed’ images you can have fun in front of the camera!
