Best Girl birthday party themes

Today I share some girly birthday party themes to inspire – Over the years I have added, made changes to and will keep changing my favorite party themes. Having a little girl myself I started planning her first birthday party before she was even born. I off-course had to throw her a Unicorn party! We also have a boys part theme article in this link.

When it comes to parties it is important to start planning a party early as it takes a lot of stress out of the process being able to source bits and bops for the party as you see them instead of doing a mad dash a week before. Try do as much as you are able but leave the things that are harder to either a family member that can or the professionals! I like starting the process by pinning ideas on a Pinterest board. See my kids party themes Pinterest board.

1. Unicorn Birthday Party
Marlize is a lady who knows how to throw a party, she recently threw a magical unicorn party for her daughter, Luca. The party was stunning with all the decor in a pastel and rose gold palette. Choosing a party theme was pretty easy as Luca wanted a party that was both magical and beautiful. What is more magical than a unicorn party?! All the images on the day were taken by Dominique from Hello Love Photography. (see the full post here)

3. Swan party
I was so inspired by this Swan Party by Laura from Work of Heart. It is filled with lovilee details and the colours fit for a princess. (view the full post here)

4. Elephant party
Liezel threw a purple elephant party for her little girl, it was a blast and can easily be transformed for a boy as well.

5. Confetti theme birthday party
This is such a versatile theme. You can literally us the confetti theme as main or sub theme as it just pairs so well with other themes. I know this is my gender reveal party but I think that I would totally use it over and over again in future.

6. Llama kids party
A candy table is in my opinion a must at any kids party. It is a focal point to any occasion and such fun to style.
Mommy Marlize loves everything Boho so they decided to combine the two themes. To have it as fun and girly as possible Marlize opted for a bright colour scheme of shades of pinks and greens combined with some crisp and vintage whites. A boho feel was added by making use of some vintage crochet doilies to create a table runner on candy table from her Great grandmother. View the full post here.

Kids Birthday party food ideas
It is always best to first serve healthy food such as fruit and savoury items before the sweet treats. Children at this age enjoy to snack, so small portions are best.

As for food there are many options to consider such as sandwiches, mini pizzas, meat balls, chicken nuggets, sausage rolls, fish fingers, fruit jellies and fruit skewers. It is easier to set each kid’s place with their food, but you can also choose to let them serve themselves. A small kiddies table is a MUST, I did not have one at manny’s first party and it was rather difficult to get the little ones to sit down and eat their treats.

I personally love the sliders (mini hamburgers) that Woolworths sells so make use of them almost every time at parties.

Kids Party favour ideas
I like buying practical gifts and to be brutally honest: if it has a battery, I prefer to overlook it. Here are some gift ideas I found that I like.

  • Art supplies. This includes finger paint, sand art and play dough to name a few. Visit The Toy Box for some affordable, great ideas.
  • Bubble wands – which kid does not like bubbles?
  • Alice Bands or hair accessories – Little girls looove having hair accessories to show off, a unicorn alice band is also a hit!
  • Magic Wands
