Dominique from Hello Love Photography commissioned this Scandinavian Christmas inspiration photo shoot. She hand-picked some lovilee vendors to take part of the shoot and asked myself and my family to be part of this special collaboration. Thank you to Makeup by Monique who made me look totally awesome by doing my hair and makeup for the shoot.
Scandinavian Christmas inspiration
The term ‘Scandinavian Decor’ has become more and more prevalent in recent times. Inspiration taken for interiors or events from countries who is exposed to colder weather and warmer interiors. The idea is simple yet effective… Start with a neutral white or cream base, add minimal furniture or design and pops of colour. These Nordic interiors are often characterised by the use of natural light, caosiness and warmth, candles, use of natural elements and soft textures.
Then there is the word ‘hygge’… Hygge in danish means cozy and it is without a doubt the most important and secret ingredient to the Scandinavian design and lifestyle.
And off-course I had to throw in my new Metacraft geo-location art piece that has the GPS coordinates of where we tied the knot!
Scandinavian Christmas tree decorations
This in my opinion was one of the most exciting parts of this shoot. Most of the tree decorations were edible! You will not believe when I tell you that even the Christmas tree below was made from the shiniest chocolate I have ever seen! Jack Rabbit Chocolate Studio was responsible for the chocolate treats in the fillable baubles, the Chocolate trees and other Christmas baubles on the tree.
The Jack Rabbit team recently walkes away with Silver in the World Finals of the International Chocolate Awards this year for their South African Milk Tart Bonbon, held in London after their Gold Award in the European Open Section. You can purchase some of the goodies used in the shoot on their website.

Scandinavian Christmas Stationery
The Scandinavian Stationery was beautfully designed and put together by Nova Bespoke Studio. This lovilee lady also created a lovilee garland that was tied between the teepee and Christmas tree. There were golden perspex cut designs that were used as part of the Christmas tree decorations, but also on the table settings. I am totally in love with the gold foiled look of the wrapping paper also designed for the shoot.
Teepee
My Tiny Teepee literally made a teepee to my crazy specifications, after some consultation, ups and downs, it had all the detail and frills I wanted and more. I will be introducing you to this lovilee girl boss early in the new year and this amazing brand.
How cute does the princess look in her outfit that my lovilee neighbour sewed up for the shoot!!!
Scandinavian Christmas decorations
Wreathing and wreaths has finally made it to our lovilee country, I made some olive branch wreaths for the shoot that I also presented at a recent Your Family Magazine DIY Workshop. We also have a few DIY wreathing tutorials that you can have a look at here.
We made use of Olive branches on the table as a runner as well as some red onions. The white ceramic crockery was made by myself and the natural cotton serviettes complimented it perfectly. All of the Wooden Lasercut Elements were done by Craft Cut. Which included some really nice candle stands.
Scandinavian inspired Christmas cake
The absolutely stunning cake was made by Héloïse Haupt from LunaBerry. The idea was to capture the Scandinavian inspiration, but with a South African feel. Making use of the springbok instead of the traditional reindeer.
What sets LunaBerry apart is Héloïse’s keen eye for detail and perfectionism, ensuring that each and every cake is beautifully made using only the finest quality ingredients. Her creative background helps her design over the top and one of a kind cakes for birthdays and special events ensuring that each and every item has her own unique stamp of approval.
Thank you to all the lovilees who made this shoot possible!
