5 tips to get your home Spring ready

When Prominent Paints asked me to get involved with their #MakeSpringBetter campaign I was totally on it! I picked up plenty of inspo on my visit to the Netherlands, starting off-course at IKEA. I am a HUGE Prominent Paints fan and have shared my patio revamp that I did in collaboration with them before.

My 5 tips for getting your home Spring ready and on-trend this season is

1. New room lighting
I found these cute HEKTAR white wall lights at IKEA, they are totally versatile as they come with a wall attachment as well as a clamp if you prefer to clamp them onto a desk or bedhead. I found some really nice ones that are similar in style on Superbalist locally.

2. New bedding with a fresh pattern
You just have to have a peek at the @mrpricehome Instgram timeline to see how totally smug I look standing next to one of my decor and design icons Heather Moore! She recently collaborated with mr Price Home on a few items that they launched in store, including some stunning bedding that I off-course just had to have! These inspired the colours of the room. Update your linen with something fresh and new, and maybe a pattern that can set the tone for your new space.

3. New curtains or window coverings
Changing window coverings are not cheap or easy. I always rather play it safe by making use of very plain curtaining and then bringing in patterns with either scatters or bedding. This way I can easily change the look of a room without having to spend a fortune. I do hoever like to swap the curtains around in various rooms of my house just because I can. I recently won an @home voucher and decided to purchase some grey curtains from them (next day delivery made me very happy!)

4. Updated paint color with an interesting paint pattern
Decide on a colour that you love! Bright and bold colours are great for spring but make sure that you get a colour that you can live with long term and that suits your taste or the rest of your home. I am totally in love with the colour blush and mustard at the moment, so seem to hover around those colors.

Whilst in Europe I saw quite a lot of geometric patterns. There were grid-like wallpapers that I swooned over, stunning wallpapers and more. But what I found interesting was the use of paint to create patterns on walls. Whether you decide on horisontal lines, grids, vertical stripes or triangles, why not create your own patterns using masking tape to cordon off areas you want to leave unpainted?

5. Fresh flowers
Use the season for the season by adding some fresh flowers to your room. There are so many different and pretty ones available at the moment that you will be spoilt for choice!
