When it comes to baby shower themes, a Bun in the Oven theme is a super fun one to work with and also dictated the food that I served at this special event. I literally used bread, bread and different bread with condiments with a few extra sweet things. My second hand ‘new’ cupboard made for the perfect server.
I have been wanting to make use of the floral paper plates I bought when In Good Company was still around for a special something, and throwing a baby shower for an extra special friend called for the use of these extra special pretties. Adding Edible flowers to the mix just made sense!
Baby Shower Cake
When it comes to baby shower cakes there are soooo many options but I chose one that is 100% flop free. The DIY pavlova cake kit from Gonk Industries, that we also used for my white on white birthday celebration. All you do is buy the kit (now available in chocolate as well) and add your own fillings and toppings. I used a tin of caramel and whipped cream with edible flowers.
Baby Shower Crafting
I am not a fan of baby shower games, so decided to opt for a craft activity instead. I saw some pretty blank DIY bunnies on the Charlie Loves Studio Instagram account and knew that these would be amazing to embroider and spoil the mommy-to-be with a baby mobile using these bunnies, an embroidery hoop and some string.
We all sat around my dining room table and I organised my embroidery cottons neatly with some extra pom poms, ribbons and scissors. The fun was in chatting away whist we embroidered, assisting each other making a truly unique bunny mobile that would make the perfect keepsake.
Baby Shower Guest Favours
After I decided on a ‘Bun in the Oven’ Baby shower theme I found the perfect printable by Lucy Englelman to compliment it – a 3D mini oven that fits a small ‘bun’ once assembled. I gave each guest their own bun in the oven to take home with them. Download it here. You can print and assemble this oven yourself. Just click on the image below to get the full size oven. It is off-course also the perfect dollhouse accessory.
