Amper Mevrou is a brand new Afrikaans bridal guide that features weddings and service providers from Limpopo. They also have loads of advice and inspiration like this blue shibori inspired bridal styled shoot they featured a while ago. The shoot was a collaboration between various Amper Mevrou vendors to celebrate the launch of this new venture. The results…. #LOVILEE!
Shibori: The Japanese word for a variety of ways of embellishing textiles by shaping cloth and securing it before dyeing. The word comes from the verb root shiboru, “to wring, squeeze, press.” (source)
Inspiration behind the shoot
We wanted to showcase the ancient art of Shibori in a modern, yet classic style. The main colour used for Shibori dying was indigo, the colour that we used for the table runner, serviettes and stationary. In contrast we opted to make use of a variety of dress styles that included some formal and less formal numbers. The venue provided a formal interior with breathtaking nature scenes on the outside.
Gold and copper elements complimented the hues of blue. The candelabras and candles provided a great formal contrast against the less formal Shibori patterns for this beautiful styles shoot and tablescape. We added some Bohemian tassels to the bottoms of the menus and the waterfall flower arrangements created a breathtaking effect.
Bordeaux Game Farm in Baltimore, Limpopo was the perfect backdrop for this unique styled shoot. The venue was also responsible for all of the decor and flowers that tied seamlessly into the theme. Photographer Alicia Landman captured the true essence of the shoot whilst the Shibori inspired stationary was designed by Lieflingkind.
The models were clothed in beautiful designer dresses from Casper Bosman, supplied by Closet Couture. Their hair and make-up was done by Roots Hairsalon.
