How beautiful is this bright and colourful Boho Chic styled shoot that recently took place at the Shokran Events Venue in Pretoria? I just love the colours and the whimsical feel of this shoot. Perfect for an open air wedding ceremony or reception and need I say more about the Henna art?!
The inspiration behind the shoot (by Charmaine Lourens from Shokran Events Venue)
We really love the Bohemian look and were inspired by the beautiful colours of the pecan nut trees at Shokran Events Venue in May. We wanted to show future brides the option of having a wedding ceremony in our amazing pecan nut plantation. This is unique to Shokran and such a beautiful setting. Shokran is a unique venue and definitely leans itself to the whole bohemian trend and therefore the Boho Chic Autumn styled shoot was booked.
My stunning sister in law Tanya Nel agreed to be our bride and she was perfect for the look we were hoping to portray. We knew there was only one lady for the flowers and asked the amazing Hester from Love & Grace to assist us with some warm bright jewel coloured flowers and she outdid herself.
Carina from Calegra Bridal House agreed that we use one of their dresses for the shoot which gave the bride the bohemian natural look we were looking for. On the day Minette from Minette Bridal make up did her magic on the bride and Jorietha from Henna by Jorietha created the amazing henna design on the bride’s hand.
We cannot be happier with the outcome and it was a pleasure working with such an amazing group of professionals. We hope you enjoy and appreciate our Autumn Boho Chic Styled shoot inspiration.
Love & Grace gladly partnered for this boho chic shoot by combining elements of vintage, hand-crafted and non-conformist nature. They used décor items to play with contrasting textures: the elegant aged silver chandelier, silver cutlery, antique gold votives, antique mirror and the heavy, silver fabric runner, against the unconventional hand crafted gold consols, wood flower box and wooden arch, textured cotton napkins tied in an informal knot and the silver & glass underplates with crushed eucalyptus leaves detail. By combining formal & informal elements, you get a perfectly balanced boho chic look.
For the flowers Love&Grace stuck to natural elements with a pop of colour to compliment the venue. Grey leaves were used for the overgrown, botanical look that served as a background for the warm orange, red & purple hints. We also used fruit in the flowers and on the table to emphasise the natural look. For the bridal bouquet we stuck to this year’s trend of big hand arrangements adding a few gold branches for a quirky edge. We also loved doing the understated flower crown that is signature of the boho look.
Minette Bridal make-up jumped at the opportunity to be part of this shoot. Not only is Shokran one of her favorite venues, but she loves working with Laurentia E photography. The Boho theme is something new and fresh and she believes it is the start of an exciting new trend in the wedding industry. In keeping with this new trend, she tried to keep the make-up fresh, yet still put enough focus on the eyes to make them really pop. The look is natural, yet still glamourous.
Joerietha has been a henna artist for over a decade now and still loves what she does. Bridal henna has become very popular within western cultures recently as well as in other celebratory moments of our lives. Us being a rainbow nation, we need to embrace the wonderful aspects of other cultures and show unity while still embodying our own individuality. This is what she enjoyed most about this Boho Chic Autumn photoshoot. It is a clear representation of this cultural acceptance in what is a very important celebration within our lives.
Calegra Bridal House created a platform where South African designers can finally show of their work throughout the country. Calegra are the proud stockists of the Anna Georgina Collection by Kobus Dippenaar, Enchanted Collection by Elbeth Gilles and also Jeanelle le Amour by Casey Jeanne. The dress for the shoot is the Faerie dress from the Anna Georgina collection. The corset bustier with abstract flower detail on the bust shows of the waistline of the bride,
The dress is made of Chantilly lace; it has a blush lining to give a vintage old fashioned feel to the lace. The dress is perfect for an outside/ bush wedding.
Laurentia E Photography is a wedding, portrait and events photographer based in Pretoria, South Africa. She captured the details and colours perfectly on the day and had the following to say about the shoot: “It was great being part of this team and working on the autumn seasoned boho shoot. I’m absolutely in love with the colours, bohemian style and the amazing flower arrangements by Love & Grace!”
