If you have followed lovilee for a while you’d remember the Cars Birthday party that little manny had last year for his second birthday. This year we opted for a Construction Birthday party and what was best is that I was able to re-use some of last years’ decor. Daddy also made a lovilee truck cake that little manny loved to bits. The wheels were the first thing to be eaten and the rest of the truck topper was soon dished out to his friends.
Although I am not good at making cakes I decided to try my hand at some cupcake toppers from a tutorial I found on-line, they came out better than expected, but I did not attempt the dump trucks! The Olivedale SuperSpar also provided a yellow and white cake to which I added some star candles from Pick ‘n Pay, a number three from Oulik and a small dumptruck filled with crushed Oreo cookies thanks to Lauren Kim.
The theme is a versatile one as there are so many little elements that you can incorporate. Most of the colours that people opt for with this theme is black and white, combined with yellow and sometimes a bright orange or red is also used. I started off ordering hard hats on-line from Joule Trading and then got some brown party boxes from M.Studio. My mom bought a yellow tape measure that I bummed off her and used on the party packs as well as the tins. I purchased the invite and stickers from Creative Party.
I made some signs that I added throughout and made use of streamers to create a lovilee backdrop behind the candy table. There was a jumping castle, some vinyl stickers that I made and loads of colouring fun. All in all it was a fun day and my little man played his heart out! Thank you so much to everyone who lent a hand and came to share in the special memories! A special thanks to friendy Carike Ridout Photography for the again, beyond pretty images!
