Chantelle & James, who met on an unplanned ‘blind date’, tied the knot at a perfect love tulip wedding at Birkenhead House in Hermanus at the end of 2014. James chartered a private plane, which flew them to Molori in Madikwe, where he proposed on the top of a cliff during sun set on a private game drive. The day, with the help of a planner, took around 12 months to plan. There to capture every moment was photographer, Darren Bester.
The groom decided on the groomsman outfits and was involved in every aspect of the day, including choosing the wedding colour, flowers, design of the table names and music. The table names were all designed and made by the groom’s sister. They were cut from wood and were the different Kruger camp names. The colours and venue choice was easy, decided upon after a romantic weekend to Birkenhead House which overlooks the sea. The only venue the couple considered for their special day. With the surrounds being so beautiful (sea & mountains) the couple opted for simple but beautiful flowers and décor, this was achieved with tulips which have the symbolic meaning of “perfect love”!
The couple opted for a Cheese Tower instead of a traditional wedding cake. The cheese were bought from a little cheese store in Woodstock. Brandon, a chef at Birkenhead House, added grapes, preserves, flowers, biscuits etc. Each lady that attended the wedding was spoilt with an off-white pashmina purchased on holiday in Mauritius before the wedding.
“Enjoy the entire process, from planning the wedding to the actual event! It goes so quickly, so enjoy every moment!”
