Fragrance combining by Jo Malone London Perfume

I get invited to quite a number of events, but have to hand-pick the ones to attend as I just don’t have the time to visit them all. When I received an exclusive invite to the Jo Malone London Myrrh and Tonka Experience at their Melrose Arch store, I was intrigued. Who knew that you could get your DIY on with creating your own signature scent using fragrances by Jo Malone London?

Jo Malone has trademarked the concept called Fragrance Combining. Fragrance is a personal statement and the brand allows you to get creative by either wearing a cologne solo or layered for truly individual effects. Freshen a rich floral with a citrus zing. Add spice for a warm allure. Create something unexpected. A long-time signature. Each design can additionally be layered with a complementary or contrasting Jo Malone™ crème. Read all about this concept in this link.

Jo Malone London Myrrh & Tonka Experience
There were only three of us invited to this special event and my word did I enjoy every moment. We were greeted with welcoming drinks (and coffee) with some delicious macaroons. We were invited to smell the range of colognes that they have on offer and given more information on the brands and various collections by Anton Denver, Regional Education Manager of EMEA for the brand. I was stunned to find that even though I thought myself to be more favourable towards the floral scents I preferred the smells of the fruity and lighter fragrances.

The Myrrh & Tonka cologne is the latest ‘dark’ fragrance launched and we were asked if we could change anything to it what we’d do. Make if lighter, darker, moodier?… I opted for ‘lighter’ I was then presented with some options and just so happen to discover my favourite and now signature scent.

My signature scent
Who would have ever thought that I’d fall head over heels with the ‘Wood sage and Sea salt’ cologne. I absolutely LOVE it. It is a light and airy smell that I can wear ever day and paired with the Myrrh & Tonka fragrance it becomes unexpectedly bold. A great alternative for me to wear to an evening function.
