The limited edition English Fields perfume collection has just launched at Jo Malone London. The collection is a harvest of five brand new limited edition cologne of 30ml each. Each of these capture the essence of the English landscape during Harvest time. Jo Malones’ Head of Fragrance Development, Céline, and the Master Perfumer, Mathilde Bijaoui, team up once again to create these unique fragrances.
Receiving a Jo Malone London parcel is like receiving a birthday gift – Total happiness on my part! The gift came perfectly packed in a small basket with some muesli, fresh home-made jam and honeycomb (which I ate all by myself – iesh). I am totally in love with the bottles and can’t stop touching them, the bottom part is a textured finish that just makes them totally unique.
The five Jo Malone colognes in the collection
Green Wheat & Meadowsweet (received this)
English fields at dawn, full of the joys of spring. Filled with young, green wheat. Crisp and fresh. Balanced with a zesty twist of grapefruit. Mingled with soft, white notes of meadowsweet. Pretty. Fresh. Powdery.
Honey & Crocus (received this)
One of the visions for English Fields was of bees flying over the meadows and pollinating flowers, so Jo Malone wanted a note of honey in one of the fragrances. Crocus is a quintessential spring flower so the combination with this and honey was perfect.
Primrose & Rye
Primroses are joyful yellow flowers, so I used corn, coconut and mimosa to enhance that rich and hazy solar effect. For a smoky warmth I added rye, which has a spicy hint of vanilla and a real earthiness to it.
Poppy & Barley
The poppy was important to this collection as it is quintessentially British and symbolic to this country. Aesthetically they are so bright and vibrant, whereas barley has a cotton-soft texture and nurturing warmth.
Oat & Cornflower
Master Perfumer, Mathilde Bijaoui, came up with an accord to represent the oats, which are wholesome, mouth- watering and addictive. To replicate the nuttiness of oats she included hazelnut, then enhanced the fragrance with warm, sweet tobacco and earthy vetiver.
What I thought of the Jo Malone gift set that I received
Initially I found the scents quite strong as I tend to prefer very light perfumes but after a minute or two the scent settles making the Green weat and Meadowsweet cologne my favourite of the two. Do you use Jo Malone London’s perfume? Did you know that you can book a fragrance consult at any of their stores? I attended one and it was really really great. Finding the perfect fragrance for yourself is something that can really be fun. With the huge variety of choices at Jo Malone London you will definitely be able to find something for yourself, so take the leap and visit them at any of their boutique stores.
My current everyday fragrance is the English Oak & Hazelnut that was part of their previous English Oak collection. The fun comes in choosing something to wear to a special occasion!
