Sonje Ludwig Photography, submitted this gorgeous Greek Garden Wedding inspiration styled shoot for consideration. There was just something about the shoot that drew my attention. The fact that we have never before featured a Greek inspired shoot was a plus and that it contained lavender… SWOON! The first of the images were captured at Rhodes Memorial and the others at Die Groote Schuur (abandoned) Zoo.
“I’ve always had a love for flowy Greek dresses and hair styles. The stories from Ancient Greece has been an inspiration, so I used this theme and modernised it somewhat. The shoot started out at first as just a Greek themed wedding shoot and later during the planning process it turned into a Greek garden themed wedding shoot. Even though the Greek period was one of luxury I wanted to use the theme in a more relaxed, yet stylish way.”
Sonje personally sourced all the décor and furniture, some of it being her own and other from friends. The stationary was also designed by herself. We asked each of the suppliers to share a bit of their experience and participation in the shoot. Sonje is a natural light wedding and lifestyle photographer based in Blouberg, Cape Town. She has a natural and relaxed photography approach and love warm photos with a hint of romance. Her aim is to produce stylish and timeless images that can last a lifetime.
The Bridal Closet on the dress:
“We are a small bridal boutique based in Bothasig in the Northern suburbs. The dress used for the Greek inspired shoot is a bridal infinity dress made from layers of tulle and a cotton top. It can be worn as is or can be dressed up. We decided to use it as is to keep things simple but stylish.
Almari from Hair Styling and Make-Up by Almari on the hair & Make-up:
“I really enjoyed working with Sonje on our Greek inspired styled shoot. Styled shoots allow you to think creative and do the extraordinary. I focused on natural make-up, playing around with soft browns, light gold and bronzes. The false eyelashes also contributed to round off the look, defining her hazelnut eyes. We had a beautiful headpiece that we wanted to focus on, therefore I kept the hair minimalistic. Soft curls created the upstyle.”
Connie’s Cakery on the Cake:
“We are a Durbanville based business that specialises in bespoke wedding and novelty cakes, cupcakes, cookies, candy and cake pops. The rustic Greek inspired cake was covered in a white rough buttercream finish and decorated with olive leaves and lavender.”
Other lovilees that took part in the shoot included:
Hair & Make-up: Make-up by Almari (Milnerton based)
Cake: Connie’s Cakery
Dress: The Bridal Closet
