Last year the princess had a vintage bunny party and the year before we opted for a unicorn party theme. This year it was all about rainbows and happiness!
The planning for the party started after I purchased some pretty rainbow paper plates, serviettes and matching tattoos by Meri Meri from Must Love Party (now sold out).
I asked friendy Liezel from Match Set Love to design a matching Printable Rainbow Invitation and she even created a full Rainbow Party Set now available from her Etsy store (Affiliate links). See the rainbow tassel backdrop DIY here. The delicious and pretty sugar cookies are from Artful Biscuit Company that I won in a recent give-away.
Rainbow party food
I purchased the rainbow birthday cake from Woolworths and scraped the icing off to re-use with a different color sprinkle. No ways I could have baked a more delicious prettier cake myself!
As part of the candy table I added some confetti popcorn – find the recipe for the confetti popcorn here – it is a hit at EVERY party and perfectly fitted the theme. Gold chocolate coins and some other sweets. I also made some rainbow rolls that were from a Donna Hay magazine.
For the food table there were platters arranged like rainbows and another hit at the party were the house shaped savory mini pies – see the recipe here.
Rainbow drinks trolley
Yolandi from A Zesty Life stumbled across a gold drinks trolley that we DIY’ed in white to be used bethween herself and I at parties and special functions. It just made sense using some of the Bos iced teas in a rainbow of colors with some Consol glass milk bottles.
Rainbow party activities
We attended a party earlier this year where Rumi from Bazinga Parties did the face painting. She is amazing with the kids and her painting skills beyond anything I have ever seen, so I knew she needed to come to the party!
I also had some colored fruit loops that the kids could use together with marshmallows and pipe cleaners to make their own rainbows.
How cute is this rainbow sprinkler inflatable that I purchased from Mr Price Home as gift for the princess?
Rainbow party favors
I really like giving gifts instead of the traditional sweets as party favors, so my mom made some really awesome pom pom capes for the little guests.
Thank you to Melanie Wessels Photography who took the amazing images for me.
