Black Betty Design manufactures unique, handmade pieces of jewellery that appreciate mother nature’s natural beauty aiming to adorn their customers at every stage of their life time. Their designs are just simply put – lovilee. Their ranges are so diverse that it would be able to compliment each wedding day in a unique way.
Like with all things matrimonial, tradition has its place, but when it comes to engagement rings there’s a lot more to consider when choosing the right one for the special bride to be. As she is the one that will be wearing it for the rest of her life, it needs to reflect her style, her personality and the ‘je ne sais quoi’ that makes her the chosen one.
While the traditional bright, sparkly diamond encased in a beautifully designed setting, wrapped in an elegant band is the dream for most brides, what of the bride who likes to stand out from the crowd? She who goes against the grain, the one who values extraordinary over normalcy? Luckily for her the trend of unusual cuts, stones, pigments and designs are becoming more and more pertinent in the realm of bridal jewellery.
The Treacle Range (my favourite) was the inaugural collection of Black Betty Jewellery and as the name suggests is the delightfulness that can be found in life’s simple pleasures, like a box full of candy! The designs are feminine in style made with high quality sterling silver, double gold plating, and a kaleidescope of eye-catching coloured precious and semi-precious stones. The gems have been sourced and hand-cut by expert artisans in India using traditional practices passed down from generation to generation. This means they’re hand crafted and no two are the same.
Their other ranges include
- The Polki Diamond Range
- The Black Ash Range
- Shapeshifters
- Skinny Joy
How the company was born
Black Betty began in 2012 when Kristin Weixelbaumer set out to combine her 10 years of experience in the design world with her passion for stones. The beauty and simplicity of the designs she works with has made her jewellery highly sought after.
Having been brought up in a design oriented family – their father, an architect and mother an interior designer – Kristin and her sister Klaudia Weixelbaumer, who is also a successful interior designer, are well versed in making things look beautiful. Klaudia started Black Betty with Kristin as a creative outlet, sourcing and designing a variety of different fashion, graphic, jewellery and décor pieces. The two sisters complement each other in many ways, forming a creative and inspiring business relationship.
