Introducing UCOOK an innovative way to cook

I was fortunate enough having been able to try out not one, but two of the different boxes of ingredients that UCOOK provides on a weekly basis. The box of your choice arrives on a Monday morning, filled with fresh produce from reputable suppliers as well as recipe cards, all packaged in a box with cooling insulation.

The company launched in 2014 and after great success in the Cape Town market is expanding its footprint nationally.

There are three menu’s with three meals each available for order – Low Carb Menu, Rustic and Veg. In addition to these there is also a flexi-option where you can choose three meals from any of the menu’s as you can see the menu’s beforehand.

I tried out both the Rustic and the Low Carb options. What I found great about the pretty recipe cards were that they had a preparation time on – I could choose which one I wanted to try on each night based on the amount of time I had on hand. The cards were easy to follow and are really nice to keep in a recipe box for future use. Each of the boxes are available in 3 size options, Bachelor, couples or family parcel option.

In the Rustic box I received ingredients to cook the following three meals:

  • CHICKEN pita HEAVEN with roast beetroot humus & rocket. I just loved the beetroot hummus and who knew that pita bread was this easy to make?!
  • Hungarian chorizo stew with rustic bread – Delicious and tasty
  • All the good things in a bowl – A Nom Nom steak meal!

In the second week I tried out the Low carb box. One of the meals was the most delicious Spiced Chicken and red coleslaw salad that I had ever had, I was totally surprised that I created this meal myself from just following the recipe!

Also in the box were:

  • Cheat Cauli Risotto – Simply delicious
  • Salad – fit for kings
