Whether you enjoy romantic Candle Lit dinners, use candles to keep odors at bay or simply love fragranced candles – the all-white Kringle Candle range of quality, ultra-fragrant, long-burning candles is for you! I got to play around with some of these fragranced candles over the past few weeks which convinced me that no one could ever have enough of them! It was virtually impossible to choose a favorite from the twelve scents I tested – the Watercolors, Lumberjack (who would have thought – got me into a DIY mood!), Egyptian Cotton and Comfy sweater scents were divine. I eventually settled on Pink Grapefruit being my ultimate favorite and even went to buy more fresh grapefruit to eat! I can’t believe how real the scent is.
About the Kringle Candle company
At age 16, Mike Kittredge II made a candle for his mother as a Christmas present, using his old childhood crayons. This was the start of a tiny but fast-growing scented candle business, which eventually reached a multi-million-dollar success. The company was sold in 1998 when he decided to retire from the world of wax and wicks – or so he thought.
In 2008, his son, Michael James Kittredge III (Mick) made scented candles the theme of a college marketing course project. Utilizing his inherited knowledge, he placed the same care and attention to quality and detail in producing his own candles on the vintage family stove. In October 2010. Mick and his dad opened the Kringle Candle Company in Bernardston, Massachusetts. ALL of the white Kringle candles that travel throughout the world still get poured in the United States – ensuring that each’s quality is equal with none of the ingredients imported from other parts of the world.
What sizes do Kringle candles come in?
1. Smallest – Daylight candles
These are the smallest version of Kringle Candles, but they still provide 10-12 hours of fragrance when burnt. These mini candles are one of the best ways to bring multiple fragrances to your home and make for a candle gift set when purchased together, stack them or just slip one into a present to fill the whole parcel with a lovilee scent. Unlike traditional votives, these candles come in their own (100% recyclable) container cups so can be used freestanding. They also have a convenient plastic cap lid making them the perfect travel candle. They are around 5.5cm in diameter and 3cm tall – similar in size to what we know as tealight candles.
2. Medium and Large Classic Jars
- The candles come in all-white wax allowing them to seamlessly fit into any of your existing decor.
- The jars have easy peel labels and can be re-used or up-cycled afterwards (I share some ideas lower down)
- Their lead-free cotton two-wick design guarantees an even burn, delivering fragrance faster than the traditional one-wick designs.
- The thicker glass container design provides a safer burning experience without requiring candle holders beneath.
- The medium candle can give up to 75 hours of burning and the larger version up to 100 hours.
3. Small Classic Jar
With all attributes the same as the medium and Large jars, this smaller version only has 1 wick but promises the same fragrant indulgence. This candle burns for up to 20 hours.
What candle scents are available in South Africa?
Velas & Regali are the exclusive distributors of Kringle Candle in South Africa as part of their intention of importing for distribution a range of boutique gifting items for the South African market. They have brought in 30 of the 60 scents to start with.
Kringle Candle’s unique scents are often based on customer suggestions. The company works hand-in-hand with the industry’s finest perfumers to select an array of robust, realistic candle fragrances.
What do I do with my jar once the candle has burned to the bottom?
As part of Kringle Candle’s commitment to the environment, the jars have been designed with multiple re-uses in mind. The best part is that the jars burn totally clean so there is very little cleaning needed afterwards, just a wash to remove the scent should you want to use them to store food in. The jar lid seals well, so you can store anything from treats like nuts to sweets therein (or coffee pods). You can also use them as storage for ribbons or craft materials – the larger jars are especially great for this. They can also be used in a decorative way – Why not make a terrarium in one or two?
Where can I purchase these scented candles in South Africa?
Even though we do not have an official Kringle Candle store here in South Africa there are a few retailers that stock them in store as well as online. Candle prices range from approximately R60 to R435, and in my opinion these are great value for money if you consider the burn time you get from them. See the full range of stockists here.
If you are a retailer, events planner or corporate gifting business interested in stocking Kringle Candle products, you can get in contact with the lovilees at Velas & Regali directly via their website.
