I recently attended the most amazing watercolor workshop at That Spot on 4th by Lumina Creative Studio. I had been wanting to learn how to watercolour paint for quite some time, so when I stumbled across this workshop on Instagram I was sold and immediately booked my seat.
You just have to browse Frances’ Instagram timeline to see that this is a lady who knows how to use a brush. The colors of the work and the technique she shows is incredible.
About the watercolor workshop
The set up was beautiful, everything to get you in the mood for a lovilee day of painting! Each person received a personalised parcel to make them feel special!
It was so nice to attend this workshop with three of my friends – Carla from Moi Decor Hire, Melanie Wessels and Melanie from Soul Food Blog. We had the most amazing food at That Spot on 4th and their coffee as usual – amazing. In this 5 hour workshop, Frances introduced us to all of the watercolor techniques and different brushes (you also get a pretty booklet to take home) and their uses as well as the recommended watercolor paper to use. Then we set out on a practise round.
I was really worried about having to come up with my own masterpiece, but then she pulled out some pretty awesome cheat sheets! We used some of her beautiful hand drawn images and only needed to fill in the colors. (took loads of stress off me) Each workshop presented has a slightly different theme. For our workshop most of the images had birds in, but there were also some watercolor flowers to choose from. I also ordered some extra sheets from her so that I can try more creations at home!
What you receive as part of the Watercolor paint workshop
- Skills, loads of skills
- A full set of watercolor paint
- A paint palette for color mixing
- Set of brushes
- A booklet to remind you of all the do’s and don’ts
It is so amazing to have pretty images of the day – all taken by Frances’ husband which made it much easier to share with you lovilees!
Lumina comes from the latin word ‘lumen’, meaning to make resplendent or luminous, to be shining with brilliant light.
