Today we share a Malva Pudding Recipe with you, perfect for spoiling mom with on Mother’s Day! For styling and serving we used some gorgeous products from Little Honeypot’s on-line store that is sure to bring a smile on mom’s face!
Malva pudding is a sweet pudding of Cape Dutch origin. It contains apricot jam and has a spongy caramelized texture. A cream sauce is often poured over it while it is hot, and it is usually served hot with custard and/or ice-cream. {source}
Malva Pudding Recipe
Cake Ingredients
- 1 Cup of Flour
- 1 Egg (Beaten)
- 1 Tablespoon Melted Butter
- 1 Cup Milk
- 1 Cup Sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons of Bicarbonate of Soda
- 1 Tablespoons of Apricot Jam
- 1 Teaspoon Lemon Juice
Method
- Preheat the oven to 180C.
- Grease a baking dish.
- Combine Sugar, egg, butter and jam and whisk until pale and fluffy.
- Whisk in the milk and lemon juice.
- Fold in the flour and bicarb of Soda.
- Pour into a dish and bake for 25 minutes.
Sauce Ingredients
- 1 Cup of Cream
- 1 Cup of Butter
- 1 Cup of Sugar
- 1/2 Cup of Water
Method
- Combine all ingredients in a pot over moderate heat until the sugar dissolves.
- Boil for 3 minutes.
- Pour over the HOT cake.
