NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto {review}

A few weeks ago I received a NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto Circolo machine and some capsules to try out. It was with great difficulty that I returned this machine to its rightful owners. It is worth noting that NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto is an official World Design™ partner, as part of its ongoing commitment to encouraging and inspiring art.

The machine?
The appliance has a very modern, sleek and unique design, it is literally a quarter of the size of the coffee machine that we currently own, but does what it has to none the less. It is really easy to use and requires virtually no cleaning, except for off-course removing a used pod. The NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto coffee machines also come with a two year warranty from Delonghi.

The coffee?
Whilst most of you are familiar with pod machines and their pods, this machine is quite something different. Dolce Gusto is a stylish, clever and easy-to-use capsule system which has been designed so coffee-lovers and connoisseurs alike can enjoy a wide range of beverages. The handy little capsules are packed with flavoursome coffee, as well as frothy milk and tasty hot chocolate, creating a range of coffee, cocoa and tea beverages. Yes, no need to even add your own milk with most of the flavours available!

The taste?
Good question… I was really initially thinking that this was just one of those everyday pod machines, but it really surprised me. The starter pack provided us with a taste of the cappuccino, Chococino, Espresso Intenso and Americano. The Chococino got my heart racing, it was beyond tasty and not watery at all, the cappuccino was just as tasty but I soon realised that it was a tad rich for my taste for everyday use. Although great to spoil myself with every now and then.

I set off to buy some more options {there are 11 flavours currently available} and found a Dolce Gusto representative at the Hurlingham Pick ‘n Pay {yup, you can buy the pods and machines on-line as well as at most Pick ‘n Pay’s, Makro Stores, Dion Wireds and Checker stores}. After careful consultation with her around the different flavours, I walked away with a box of Cafe Au Lait pods. These pods are only used one at a time, whereas some of the other variations, like the Chococino and Cappuccino requires two. This is perfect for the everyday coffee lover, an all round flavour best drunk in the morning, late morning, afternoon, late afternoon and, and, and I didn’t really stop.

The person?
Who would I recommend the machine to? Definitely someone who is a no mess, no fuss kinda person. Someone who is passionate about coffee and likes their coffee to have the same perfect taste every time they make it. Someone who loves to entertain and spoil their guests with a variation of hot drinks and some cold options. And off course – those amongst us who never have milk in the fridge when their friends who drink milk in their coffee come to visit!
