Looking for a special spot to do a couple shoot in Cape Town or surrounding areas? In the past two weeks we looked at the some places that you could have an e-shoot down in Johannesburg and in Pretoria and now we move to Cape Town.
Again, it is worth noting that some of the venues do charge a fee or that require some permission forms to be completed, to let you photograph there. It is always best to either check with your photographer or with the venue itself.
Best places to do a couple shoot in Cape Town
1. Kirstenbosch Gardens
Kirstenbosch is situated against the slopes of Table Mountain. The international acclaimed botanical garden offers couples and photographers an array of locations to shoot at, from desert backgrounds to lush green tropical scenery. One of YSP’s favourite locations. Make sure to book an engagement shoot on a Sunday and enjoy one of Kirstenbosch’s summer concert after the shoot at. It will add to a romantic afternoon spent in one of the most beautiful gardens in the world. Images by YSP.
2. V&A Waterfront
These images at the V&A Waterfront was captured beautifully by Kobus Tollig from Kobus Tollig Photography over the festive season last year. The Waterfront provides such a cosmopolitan feel, with the high-end retailers and the yachts in the background. Yet, the mountains and the street vendors gives it a true South African vibe – a definite Cape Town location consideration!
3. Bo-Kaap
Herman Agenbag shot Dewald Visser and his fiancé’s engagement shoot at different locations all over Cape Town. Our favourite spot was the colourful Bo-Kaap, located above the city center on the slopes of Signal Hill. (The shoot was featured on the reality series, “Troukoors van n Bachelor”, on Top TV. ) The vivid colours of the Bo-Kaap homes just adds to the happiness and excitement of the engagement shoot. 4. Riebeeck Kasteel
Riebeeck Kasteel is an hour’s drive from Cape Town and is surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. The Royal Hotel is beautifully decorated in a colonial South African style and offers the best view of the Riebeek Valley. Creatively painted restaurants and shops also offer colourful backgrounds for fun engagement shoots.
5. Taal Monument
For an architectural backdrop we can recommend the Taal Monument, located on the Paarl Mountain. The monument was designed by architect, Jan van Wijk, to recognize the origins of Afrikaans. Images by YSP.
6. The Old Biscuit Mill
The Old Biscuit Mill is a vibrant, warm-hearted little village in the heart of Woodstock where talented people come together to share, collaborate. The Mill is home to day and night markets, dynamic office space, a range of workshops and designer stores, delicious farm stalls, decadent restaurants as well as an inspiring line-up of festivals and productions.

This False bay town offers mountain views with small buildings that creates the feeling of being overseas. You can travel from Greece to Italy just by walking down the main road. Make sure to visit the toy museum and say hello to the Just Nuisance statue. Images by YSP. (more images here)
