Lonette is the creative behind Troukoerant & Wedding Press. A customised newspaper is not only a fun read at the wedding itself, but can be used before, during or after the couple’s big day. It is in fact also an ideal keepsake for many special occasions besides weddings. We really loved her ideas, layout and designs and wanted to share more with you about her business.
How did you start the business?
I did an original fun and dainty ‘Ons Troukoerant’ for my wedding in 2012 and to my surprise guests ooh-ed and aah-ed over it in awe. People simply loved reading about us as a couple and our love story. We included details of the day and fun inserts to keep our guests entertained during our photo session. Together with a bottle of my mom’s amazing apricot jam, our ‘Troukoerant’ was a wonderful keepsake that everyone took home with them.
A few weeks after the wedding a friend who attended our special day suggested that I start doing wedding newspapers for other brides too, since it is a frequent request on blogs and Facebook pages and ours had a different look and layout.
Tell us more about the product that you deliver?
Every person has a story to share with the world which is why we are so excited about {Troukoerant & Wedding Press}. We can tell your story in a truly unique and special way that will keep guests talking for weeks.
To keep the look and feel of our newspapers authentic, we print in black and white or full colour on newsprint paper or or an off-white vintage colour.
Clients can choose between an A4 and A3 newspaper size depending on the look-and-feel they want and the amount of inserts, articles and photos they want to share with their guests. A customised quote is given to each client according to their individual needs. Instead of using standard templates, every newspaper’s layout and style is different to best suit the couple, as well as the theme and style of their wedding or event.
How do you go about getting the content for the newspaper?
Every couple has a one-of-a-kind relationship and we want to stay true to their special connection. We are there to tell their story, which is why we why focus on what it is that they want to say to their guests on their wedding day. Guests are always interested to know how they met, how he (or she) proposed, what they love about each other and so on.
We often help them with ideas and suggest possible inserts to fit as much as possible into the layout space available. With articles, programmes, photos, quotes, poems, fun inserts and so on, we then build the rest of the information into the newspaper. Before we go to print, we give the client a set of proofs and make changes where necessary. If clients live far away, we correspond via email and over the phone.
