We haven’t showcased a Q+A interview in ages, but today we showcase a must-read one. Interviewing the lovilee Tammy Holliday, Gauteng Wedding and Lifestyle Photographer.
Q: How did you become a photographer?
I found a sure love for photography during my 9th grade of school. When I finished Matric, I enrolled into Visual Skills School and graduated with a National Diploma Certificate in 2010.
Q: How would you describe your style?
I would describe my style as dramatic, vintage colour pop, with a hint of difference.
Q: What has been your favourite shot{s} taken to date?
Oh my Word I have a lot of favourite shots. One of them was at a wedding last year, when my assistant and I rushed to gather every spare prop we could at the announcement of rain on this bride and groom’s wedding day, the LOVE prop comes off of my bedroom wall- never-the-less and with great pleasure, it didn’t rain!
The other was at a friends wedding,it was carnival themed and it was just so much fun to be at. The bride and I plotted together and lured the groom for this one last night shot.
Q: What are your favourite kinds of shoots to do?
I really love weddings, however, I also enjoy lifestyle photography and I often work on my own artistic glamour photography in my studio.
Q: Do you have any advice to share with future brides?
Although photographers are expensive and overwhelming sometimes, the vast majority of us really care about your wedding day, we spend every second analysing what will happen next, so lets have a charming, long lasting relationship. And speak to us, we love hearing what it is that you really want from your day.
Just for Fun…
Q: Describe yourself in one sentence?
There is nothing more important than having an adventure every day, no matter how small it may be.
Q: What do you do when you are not behind the lens?
I am a huge lover of people and try to spend as much time as possible with them (other than my lovilee clients). My family is important to me, but when I am not spending time with them, I am trying to visit new places and learn or experience new things. When I am not behind the camera, I am devising new plans or shoots to get back in front of it!
Q: Are you part of any other exciting projects?
As stated above, I am involved in artistic glamour shoots (make-up done mostly by me). However, I am also involved in a Non-Profit Organisation called The Justice Jar, where we collect funds to teach people “how to fish”. I am currently thinking about organizing my own styled shoots as well. {I did not do the make-up on the image below this time}.
