I am totally in love with this spring maternity photo shoot by Leandrie du Plessis Photography and not just because they were taken of special friends, cause they are seriously pretty! It always intrigues me to see who photographers choose to take photos of their own families, but I think that Wynand and Juanita (Wynand van der Merwe Photography) made a great choice! Wynand searched far and wide to find these beautiful spring blossom trees for the background to this spring photo shoot – they ended up taking the images at Milorho Wedding Venue in Rustenburg.
I have gotten to know this lovilee couple a bit over the past year and was soooo excited to hear that the princess will be getting a friend! I was so fortunately to attend her spring blossom baby shower and can’t wait to see more images of her spring blossom inspired nursery. Juanita is a lady who knows how to choose gorgeous maternity wear, but I was blown away with this maternity maxi skirt from Spellekussing. Made up by Kylie was responsible for Juanita’s make-up.
After the disappointment of two chemical pregnancies at the end of 2016 we were very happy, but scared to hope when we found out we were expecting again earlier this year. Growing up believing in God I found encouragement in a verse in Isaiah 35 at this time. “The desert and the parched land will be glad; the wilderness will rejoice and blossom. Like the crocus, it will burst into bloom; it will rejoice greatly and shout for joy. The glory of Lebanon will be given to it, the splendor of Carmel and Sharon; they will see the glory of the Lord, the splendor of our God.”
I felt like God was saying as the desert can burst into bloom after winter, so too I will be able to conceive again after the two miscarriages. Needless to say, when we found out at 16 weeks that we are expecting a little girl I went completely overboard with the blossom theme. I also took it as another confirmation when her due date was scheduled for early September, Spring time!
When we decided to do a maternity photoshoot, we really wanted to capture this special time in our family’s story, so we went on the hunt for blossoms, that proved to be no mean feat during July! My husband, being a photographer himself suggested we use Leandrie du Plessis and what a blessing it was. Our son had a terrible fever, but seeing that we drove almost two hours to find blossoms, we decided to continue with the shoot and with her relaxed, easy going, yet professional style, she even got a few smiles from him. The end result speaks for itself and is a testament to us of what God has promised.
