The bride-to-be, Marina, had a surprise high tea bridal shower, hosted by a close family friend, who incidentally, is also named Marina. The surprise party was held at Marina (senior’s) home in Brooklyn, Pretoria. Every detail and element was carefully selected to compliment the bride-to-be’s personal style: elegant, classic, traditional and feminine.
The hydrangeas, the bride-to-be’s favourite flower, acted as an inspiration for the colour palette, which was carried through to all the other decor elements, such as the cake table and tea sets. The decor had an elegant mix of traditional and modern, incorporating antique tea sets with modern wooden place settings and exposed wooden tables.
There were also some lovely and very time consuming DIY elements: The balloons hanging from the ceiling were carefully covered in flower cut outs, while the ice-cubes (my personal favourite!) had frozen flowers in them. Lastly the hanging glass bottle curtain was composed of completely unique bottles – no two designs were the same!
