Tasmania destination wedding

David and Kim tied the knot in a vintage glamour affair, at Peppermint Bay in Woodbridge, Tasmania. The couple was looking at having an outdoor venue and stumbled across Peppermint Bay on-line. David wanted a destination wedding and Kim did not want to go to Bali, so when she showed him a few options including Peppermint bay. He was sold as soon as she showed him the boat ride to the bay! He was very excited about having a bar on a boat.

Tell us a little bit about the proposal?
It was Christmas, he gave me a toy BMX bike all wrapped up (I used to ride a BMX bike). On the handle bars was the ring. He never actually asked me, he went a bit weird and when I asked if it was what I thought it was he grunted and said yes! He was very nervous. We tied the knot three years later.

DIY Projects
Save the date card, Favours, digital invite. I bought a Polaroid camera for photo booth. I didn’t do too much as I did not want to be stressed on the day. I have a background in prop making and set design, so originally I wanted to do most things myself, however being a destination wedding I thought it best to organise someone else to do it all, that’s where “style my day’ was fantastic. Nina from Style my day organised everything including the set up and pack down.

Advice for engaged couples
Delegate! And let go when things are not done exactly the way you want. I had a few things not done the way I wanted and I made the choice to let go and simply go with the flow. In the end the guests had no idea that things were not done exactly how I envisioned, they still had a great time and did not know any different.

I am also glad that I organised drinks the next day. The wedding itself went so quick and before I knew it the day was over. Organising an event for the following day, meant that I could catch up with people I didn’t have time to see or speak to properly at the wedding and the wedding goes so quickly it was nice to extend the festivities for a little bit longer.
