Don’t you just love it when mommies get totally creative and create pretty spaces for their new babies like this Polar bear nursery? Mommy Marieke teamed up with her family to create this lovilee space, all in one of my favourite colours at the moment – grey. Thank you to Dominique from Hello Love Photography for the lovilee submission!
The inspiration
Little Daniël’s original room was not intended to be a nursery and was re-painted in a dark grey a year ago. Marieke did not want to update the colour again and decided to work around the colours, adding some white triangle vinyl stickers from Stickaroo. The idea was to re-use the rocking chair that were used in the older siblings’ rooms before, so the rocking chair was re-upholstered to match the new-look room.
There was a last minute decision to move their eldest daughter to the room and to use her room as the baby room. The wall vinyls were already ordered so the couple opted to paint this room in a darker colour as well. Marieke has always had an affinity for polar bears and stumbled across the cute polar bear table lamp on Facebook soon thereafter. Pinterest provided some additional inspiration so there was plenty of DIY that had to be done.
All of the furniture in the room were second-hand. The cot was a custom-made item purchased from a nursery school and the compactum’s drawer unit was inherited from Marieke’s parents. Her husband built the compactum around the drawer unit when their first little one was born.
Daniël’s gran made both the duvet cover and cot bumper. Marieke made the polar bear mobile herself and also knitted the polar bear soft-toy placed in the wall shelf. The scatter cushion on the rocking chair is from Woolworths and Marieke added a felt polar bear to it.
The changing mattress cover is from Little Love Kids. The Polar bear monochromatic cushion is from Mayalief. Both the carpet and mosquito net is from Mr Price Home.
How cute is this little person?
