Gorgeous rustic details, beautiful landscapes and a loving couple all formed part of the lovilee wedding captured by the talented Sunkissed Studio at the Palmiet Valley Estate in Paarl, Western Cape.
How did the you meet?
We met March 2009, as we both joined the same company in Dubai. We were just friends until one night in August 2010 after an extremely difficult day for me at work Radek invited me for a glass of wine we sat talking till sunrise and at that moment we both felt an incredible fuzziness, that drink lead to lunch the next day. 16th September was the night we knew that we were meant to be; after a great night out we spontaneously headed for the beach all dressed up we ran around laughing/smiling/running in the water nothing else existed at that moment it was like everything around us faded into the background it was magical just us,the starlight and Alicia Keys music hence our first dance song “That’s how strong my love is”.
Tell us more about the proposal:
HE TRICKED ME. Radek said that we will be going for a picnic on Dec 14th,2012 me all excited went and got pretty basket snacks everything (guess he had to keep me distracted with something while he did his planning). We went to One & Only The Palm for the weekend had a beautiful secluded villa (me TOTALLY SHOCKED). After an amazing day walking along the beach and dinner Radek set-up a picnic blanket, champagne and whilst sitting underneath the stars together he asked me to be his wife and I was like OF COURSE!!
How long did the wedding planning take?
Wedding planning was hectic as we both live in Dubai and had the wedding in Cape Town. We started with the planning in January 2013. But we only arrived a week before the wedding and this is when everything came together. We both had an equal say about décor/cake everything. We constantly bounced ideas off each other it was OUR day.
Were there any DIY details on the wedding?
We were very hands-on as we had a specific idea of how we would like to have things done. Our invitations we made tea-dyed doilies in Dubai and had friends take them back to Cape Town. We used medium sized plain white paper doilies and stained them by adding them to a pot with teabags and water overnight. The doilies need to be separated from each other and laid down to dry on a towel. For a darker stain, coffee powder can be added to the dye water.
We also decorated all of the mason jars used with the help of our bridesmaids.
Do you have any advice for couples planning their wedding?
Start the planning as early as possible. Enjoy it. Listen to each others ideas. Remember it is about the two of you try not to lose focus on that.
