I was first introduced to the Weylandts brand by friend Liezel from Match Set Love, now residing in Germany. She took me to the Weylandts store in Kramerville a few years ago and I was mesmerized by all of the gorgeous decor and items on offer. I’ve been back plenty of times and love having breakfast at The Kitchen at Weylandts at their Kramerville store. Such an awesome feeling to be surrounded by so many pretty things whilst enjoying breakfast or drinking coffee. On Saturday, 24 September I visited the store again and it was a bustle with people moving, adding and decorating… Even more excited was I, when I was presented with the opportunity to be one of the first people to share the new-look revamped Weylandts with you lovilees!
In conjunction with the revamp, Weylandts have brought in some incredible merchandise. The company has come a long way since its origin in Windhoek, Namibia in 1964. Today the store has eight retail showrooms in South Africa, two in Namibia and one in Melbourne, Australia. It is an incredible story of a family who is able to carry the legacy of Edgar Weylandt over into future generations with Anna Weylandt (24) now also following in her father, Chris Weylandt’s footsteps.
The look
The transformation is visible from the moment that you enter the store. They have left the more subtle light grey palette behind and opted for darker, bolder colours with charcoal walls and product colours to compliment. There are touches of black metal, natural woods and woven baskets, marble and subtle brass accents. One of the new colours they have introduced is one called ‘lava’ that can be seen in some of the dining and outdoor furniture. This new look, even though bold and moodier, infuses one with calm and sophistication.
New products, new collections
My favourite items in the new collection include their new range of bedroom accessories and linen, gorgeous kitchen and dining items, natural weaved storage baskets and concrete pendants. The outdoor living and gardening accessories, with planters, furniture and succulents are definitely trend forward. There is also the ‘looks for less’ inclusion that I found very interesting.
Swoon-worthy linens
The new range of linens include curtaining, duvet covers and more. Their new products include 100% linens, cottons and shibori dyed items. Grey is the new black when it comes to these items!
Cutting-edge kitchenware
The kitchenware literally covers everything needed in a kitchen except for the appliances and kitchen sink. There are quality imported items from the likes of Japan, Germany, Portugal and Europe. The new range features lovilee storage baskets, raw steel cutlery, gorgeous hand-made ceramics and geometric detailed glasses (which I actually purchased!). There is even traditional brushware and cleaning items to make you want to do your chores in style.
