This Woodland Wonderland styled shoot that I first featured four years ago just fitted my floral theme this month so well that I thought it would be a great idea to share it again. The session was shot at the old abandoned Rhodes Zoo behind Table Mountain in Cape Town by the talented Debbie Lourens Photography.
How to nail the Woodlands wedding theme at your special day
1. Rich colour pallete
Debbie wanted to incorporate some shades of the Pantone forecasted colour for 2014, Radiant Orchid into this shoot. She decided to pair it with colours they thought create the rich opulence we so desired. The result was more than they could have hoped for showing that adding a little bit of extravagance to divine bohemian style could compliment the rich opulence of nature. Proving that more, can also be more.
The Décor and flowers was chosen according to the colour pallete and executed by Prickley pear creations and events. I just love the use of tree stumps and the floral details.
2. Handwritten or hand illustrated wedding stationery
The stationery you choose for your wedding sets the scene for your special day. The type of stationery you choose can give guests a taste of what to expect if tied in well into your theme. The lovilees over at Smitten Stationary did a phenomenal job with the wedding stationery set that they designed for this shoot. The colours paired with simple gold accents tied in perfectly with the palette chosen and the details from the hand written envelope to the hand drawn map was gorgeous.
3. Unique cake
Nicolette from La Petite Patisserie in Cape Town created a breathtaking and unique cake also with some hand painted details. She made use of the colours purples, mustard yellow and olive toned greens. No one of these hand-painted cakes will ever look the same.
4. Woodlands wardrobe
A woodlands theme alwyas has a touch of bohemian and playfulness associated. You can easily add to this theme by chosing the appropriate attire or wedding dress for your special day. Elaine from Alternative Bridal + Made with love as well as Rene H Couture supplied some dresses that had me swooning. The hair and make-up for the three models – Kim, Juandre and Theresa was done by Corle Barnard.
