Chantelle and Jacobus tied the knot at Forrest 44/La Pineta, Stellenbosch, Western Cape. Their special day was captured by Zandri du Preez Photography. It was love at first sight for this couple, who today are happily married and thanking GOD for blessing them with all his promises! What I loved about this wedding was the little lollipop trees used as table lists and the handwritten details. We so often thing that everything we have to do needs to look perfectly designed and printed, but using your own handwriting on items at your wedding adds a personal touch and just add a little lovilee!
It was a perfect summers day, a week before we had to leave for the US, I was being introduced to his family at their home in Vredenburg. We had decided to go to Patrenoster to take a walk on the beach and were wandering around the boulders, waiting for the sunset. I was leaning over the side of the boulder, watching the waves break , when I heard JC calling me.
Distracted I did not look around, just answered ‘Yes hun’, he called again. As I turned around I found him down on his knee ready to pop the big question! I nearly fell of the boulder, but luckily I didn’t step too far back, otherwise my prince charming had to swim that day! After I said ‘yes’ he pulled out a bottle of Champagne and two glasses and pointed to his sister behind a bush, camera in hand… She had captured every precious moment!
Was the groom involved in any of the planning?
The groom was involved in most of the wedding planning that took almost a year. He assisted with some of the ideas and attended every meeting with all of the vendors. He was in charge of the final puzzle on the big day as well. He wanted to take all the stress away from me on our big day and he did it perfectly. He surprised me big time with all of the little things on the day!
How cute is this ice-cream stick idea instead of a guest book. Guests were asked to write a date-night idea on a stick. The couple places them in a tin and randomly draws a stick out for ideas!
Do you have any advice for engaged couples?
Every princes wants her fairytale wedding, but if we could be of any good advice, DON’T go too big!! Only invite the necessary family and close friends, and go big on the honeymoon. Remember it’s all about YOU, the bride and groom.
